Welcome Back Parrish Pioneers!

We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! We are so excited you are here! Our staff here at Parrish has been working very hard to make sure we have a successful start to a very successful school year. We know that we are facing some challenges as we start the year out in Comprehensive Distance Learning. We also know many people have been impacted by the devastating fires we are experiencing right now in Oregon. Our hearts and minds are on them at this time. As a school, it is more important now than ever to pull together to ensure we are providing that highest quality education possible for all of our Parrish students. Despite the tremendous challenges we are currently facing, we know we must move forward to ensure a successful start to the school year. As a staff, we know we cannot do this alone. Creating and maintaining strong partnerships with our families and community members is going to be more important now than ever in making sure our students have all they need to not only survive, but thrive under these challenging
circumstances.

This school year, one step in the right direction is the launch of a monthly Parrish newsletter. By increasing the frequency of our newsletter, we are committed to maintaining strong communication with our families and community partners. In this newsletter, we will include important upcoming dates, highlight student achievements, introduce our staff to you, and ensure you have the information needed to support your students during Comprehensive Distance Learning. Now more than ever, that strong two-way communication will be essential for student success.

We want to remind you we have scheduled our Taking Care of Business Day for Tuesday, September 15th. We have set aside this day for students to pick up textbooks; get a chromebook or exchange a damaged/broken chromebook; get personal items from lockers; purchase yearbooks; get student schedules; pick up a free student binder; and purchase Parrish t-shirts. Please refer to the detailed information on our website for preferred arrival times.

One important change we have this school year is the launch of a new online learning platform, Canvas. We know this is not only a learning curve for our teachers, but for our students and families as well. We know this will be a challenge for us all, and we thank you in advance for your patience in our new learning. Just know we are here to support you in this process! You are not alone! Please read our newsletter located under the Parents & Student tab on our website, you will find important information on where to go for support with Canvas. We know together we will get through this year and be stronger together in the process. Here is to a great year!

Go Pioneers!
